Hi All!

On Sunday morning, 6/22, Fairfield Firefighters are hosting the 28th
Annual Fairfield Half Marathon (13.1 miles), 5 Kilometer and Kid's
fun run road races to benefit the Connecticut Burns Care Camp for
Kids. We expect well over 3000 runners this year for the three races
- the largest turnout we have ever had!

If anyone would like to volunteer in the morning (starting at 6:30
AM), please contact me by phone or e-mail. There is lots to do
throughout the race -- especially helping at the finish line and with
refreshments. The race starts at 8:30 AM and activities wind down around noon.

Volunteers will receive a commemorative race T-shirt and I expect
this would qualify for community service hours. You will also get
the opportunity to be "back stage" at one of the biggest road races
in New England. Family members can volunteer as well.

For troop members who are also runners, I will be able to "comp" a
limited number of entries for Troop 68 volunteers. If you would like
to run in the 5K race (before and after volunteering) please let me know!

Attached is some information on the race. Please check out the web
site at http://fairfieldhalf.org and the Burns Care Camp site at
http://www.ctburnsfoundation.org/cbc.htm to learn about the race and
why we do it.

Yours in Scouting,

PS: I may also be able to provide a ride to the race in the morning.
